Become a Youth Action Council Member
Expectations for all youth action council members
We are a volunteer-led organisation and therefore require our volunteers (particularly YAC) to step up and take action. We have big dreams to support Rainbow Youth and need your help to achieve them.
Being a Wear It Purple YAC member is a privileged position, below is a list of commitments a YAC member should try their best to obtain and focus on.
Meetings
Attend the monthly Youth Action Council meeting which falls on the First Monday of each month.
Communication
Communicate regularly, responding to messages and requests in a timely manner. Please share ideas, your thoughts and comments as we do love to hear from you! In fact, we expect it. Use the Youth Action Council Group channel to do so.
Events
Depending on your location and accessibility, try to attend a minimum of 3 events where YAC WIP presence and/or assistance is required.
If your location doesnβt have a big YAC presence, call it out - we will help you recruit and then potentially help host events to attract support for both YAC and Wear It Purple.
When it comes to Wear it Purple Day, we have an expectation that all YAC members make themselves available. Be it assistance before the day.
Documentation
Ensure you are up to date with Wear It Purple Guidelines, the Constitution or other important formal documentation.
When any updates to collateral, resources or training occur we will communicate this on the YAC channel and the Website if it is public facing.
Take Action
As we said above, we are a volunteer organisation and that requires everyone to chip in and contribute.
As a YAC member, we expect you to contribute to any tasks your fellow YAC members are driving.
We also would love you to champion and lead a minimum one task, project or collaboration that contributes to Wear it Purple annually.
We understand life gets in the way, and understand not everyone has the same abilities or access. What we require is commitment, communication and enthusiasm/creativity to contribute.
